Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
A senior official commented the incident made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in 2020.
