Two Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
